A Night For Haiti

As I watch the news each day, the mention of the terrible earthquake that has killed thousands upon thousands is now becoming a very quick update if any story at all.  This is the way it is for the news cycle of our information starved world.  What was such a big story one week is barely mentioned the following week because it is time to move on to the next big story.

Adoption Is On My Mind

Something is happening in our culture and I sense that God is at the very heart of it.  There is a movement that has a lot of people talking and it is exciting.  This wind of excitement is the reality that adoption seems to be everywhere right now in the evangelical world.  I am regularly getting information about adoption conferences that are taking place, the news seems to h

The Gospel Ends Racism

As the nation remembers Martin Luther King, JR today, I am in awe of the mighty power of the gospel. I am so thankful for the "mystery" that the Apostle Paul speaks of in Ephesians 3. There he says: This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

A Preacher That Loves Monday's

Many pastors take off Monday. That is not my normal routine though. I will stay around the house for the morning most weeks if nothing is pressing, but Monday is not my day off (as I really don't take a set day off anyway). Adoption and Orphan Sunday

Matthew 15 - Three Groups and Jesus

This weekend we will continue in Matthew 15. We will spend our second week looking at Matthew 15:1-20. I encourage you to continue to read and pray through this chapter and the upcoming chapters of this Gospel. A true worshiper will joyfully work at truly worshiping the Lord. One way we can do this is by coming to the Lord's Day prepared!

Senior Adults, Sweet Fellowship, God's Provision

I write this from a the hotel lobby in Gatlinburg, TN. I am here with a group of senior adults from our church. This is the third time in 6 years I have brought a group to this conference, and I wonder why I haven't done it every year.

Looking Back and Forward from Matthew 14

This past Sunday (09/20) I preached from Matthew 14:1-12. First of all, I was informed that I gave the reference for the parallel text. So, let me correct that for any confusion I caused. The parallel text is Mark 6:14-29.

Point #4 - Unbelief is evident in our lives by disobedience

Here is the final point from my message this past Sunday (09/13/2009), "Eyes and Ears To Overcome Unbelief."  The main text was Matthew 13:53-58, primarily verse 58:  And he did not do many mighty works there, because of their unbelief.
