Night Out in Addis Part 1b
After another interesting ride in Addis we find our self in front of a house made to look like a hut with cord light decorations. Once we entered the door the smell of frankincense smacked your nose around and then beautiful traditional Ethiopian music tickled your ears. We were seated stage right and had a great view of the musicians and dancers. Drink orders were taken soon after we sat down, water for the David’s. We are very daring. In the mean while Micah decides to fill his drawers so we take off to the toilette to change him. I don’t know what Sarah did behind the door but she managed to get him changed. Our guest ordered for us and I believe she got what I would call a sampler platter, with a side order of beef tips. Soon after ordering a huge plate of I don’t know what showed up and was placed in front of us. On the bottom of the plate (24in diameter) was huge piece of injera (Ethiopian staple – thin spongy bread made from teft) and there must have been 20 different piles of stuff mounded on top. A piece of injera was rolled up for each of us to eat with. I tore into something that resembled chicken and found myself with a big chicken wing in my mouth (bone and all). For a moment I thought I was at men’s night out. I think I tried everything on the plate and found myself liking everything I tried. Sarah tried a few things but I think she acted like she was eating more than she really ate. Our waitress then took Coffee orders and I made sure Sarah was getting a cup. I was able to take a picture of her drinking the coffee and her face afterwards. Priceless. After the meal was completed we stuck around a little bit to take in the music and dancing. I don’t know how but Micah fell asleep and stayed asleep all the way home and has just has woken up to take his nightly bottle.
I am glad it was Matthew's luggage and not Sarah's. It is a lot easier for men to adjust. I guess Matthew will have the same shirt on in all the pictures. Funny story to retell over and over-as well as your favorite wake up call by the dog! Can't wait to hear more about Addis and see pictures. There is a definite sweet spot in my heart for that part of God's great big created world! Also, can't wait to see the entire David family together for the first time on Saturday. The only bummer is that you don't get to go to worship in Ethiopia, but oh well... Maybe your body will function enough to make a short appearance at D-burg.
While we are sleeping, it is off to the Embassy.....Don't forget to leave all electronics at the hotel. You will be scanned. All electronics will be confiscated. Take plenty of stuff for Micah. You may be there a while. We will pray for the time you may have with the biological mom. I regret we did not have that opportunity.
In Christ,
Teresa
Matthew and Sarah,
I will be in prayer for your meeting with the mother. God is good and all will go well. She will realize that God has found her child a good home. Give her a hug for me and tell her someone on the other side of the world that she doesn't even know is praying for her and loves her very much. Love you guys too.
